Sprocker Spaniel Peppa is set to begin her training to become Cheshire Constabulary’s newest canine crime fighter.
The Constabulary has a diverse group of police dogs that regularly assist their two-legged colleagues in numerous ways, whether that be through sniffing out criminals who have fled the scene of a crime, detecting concealed drugs and weapons, or even locating electronic equipment of minute size that is hidden from view.
The 12-week-old Sprocker Spaniel has recently been taken on by the force after she was kindly donated by Lisa Haughton from the Protecting Vulnerable People Unit.
Lisa Haughton, who donated Peppa to the force, said:
“Peppa is a Sprocker spaniel bred from my own home-bred working Sprocker spaniel, Ruby.
“Her father is Merlin, a working cocker spaniel from the renowned ‘Spanbella Gundogs’ based in Whitchurch, Shropshire.
“She is very special to us."
Following her arrival, Peppa is now living with her new handler from the Constabulary's Dog Section full time ahead of her rigorous Police Dog training that will commence in the coming weeks.
Whilst her role within the force’s Dog Unit is yet to be decided, the team will be documenting Peppa’s training as she progresses, with more ‘pup-dates’ coming soon.
