Friday night’s CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship action saw Frodsham Park JFC cruise to a commanding 5–1 win over FC Farndon. Matt Hayes and James O’Connor each bagged a brace, with Stu Magee adding the fifth. Lee Parry struck a consolation for Farndon.
In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Two, Birkenhead Vets maintained their perfect start to the season, making it five wins from five with a 4–2 victory over Ellesmere Port Red Lions Vets. Terry Cotgrave, Jamie Evans, Jamie Edwards and Lee Gibson all found the net, while Stephen Armitage and Dean Williams replied for the Red Lions.
Neston Nomads Vets booked their place in the next round of the Cheshire FA Vets Cup with an emphatic 8–2 win over Parkfield Rangers Vets. Lee Dunbar led the charge with a hat-trick, while Liam Jeacock, Paul Ellison, Sam Bunbury, Jamie Gardner and Ben Pearson were also on target.
Saturday’s fixtures brought plenty of goals. Higher Bebington Kelma Reserves saw their unbeaten run come to an end as Great Sutton Reserves ran out 6–3 winners. Ollie Galloway scored twice, with further goals from Ste Teale, Jordan McAteer, Brad Thomson and Josh Burgess. Andy Noonan’s brace and a Gregg Biggs strike provided Kelma’s response.
Clarence FC failed to capitalise and missed the chance to go top after being held to a 1–1 draw at Sutton Rangers Reserves. Danny Lewis netted for the hosts, with Joel Hunter scoring for Clarence.
There were goals galore once again in M.U.C. United’s clash with Poulton Vics, as United triumphed 8–4. Adam Hagger hit five, supported by Callum Elliot, Ibrahim Hassan and Josh Burgess. George Pickering grabbed two for Poulton, with Nick Marron and Orlando Brennan also on the scoresheet.
Elton JFC enjoyed a 5–1 win over Chester Nomads Fourths, thanks to doubles from Callum Widdowson and Harry Eardley, while John Edgerton also netted. Richard Birtwistle replied for Nomads.
Whitegate extended their lead at the top of the CWFL Queensferry Premier Division to five points after a 7–2 victory over Blacon Youth Club Reserves. Will Reid hit a hat-trick, Anthony Reid added two, and Sam Evans and Jack Sharratt completed the scoring.
Second-placed Newton Athletic, who still have two games in hand, kept the pressure on with a 9–0 demolition of Hoole Rovers. Tom Royle claimed a treble, Liam Bradley and Danny Eaton each netted twice, and Ben Woodman and Mat Robinson added one apiece.
Upton JFC Reserves shared the spoils in a 3–3 draw at Chester Nomads Thirds. Hal Senturk, Matty Wood and Jack Robinson scored for Upton, while Nomads also struck three times.
There was a major upset in the Cheshire FA Vets Cup as Third Division Frodsham Park JFC Vets knocked out Division One side Higher Bebington Kelma Vets with a 4–2 win. Ben McWah and Simon Tierney were on target for Kelma.
Capenhurst Vets had no such problems, easing into the next round with a 4–0 win over Hartford Vets. Pete Barnett scored twice, with Tony Ashton and Lewis Walter also on the mark.
In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division Three, Blacon Vets made it six wins from six after defeating Vineyard Vets 4–2. Adam Cheers and James Henry both scored doubles to extend Blacon’s lead at the top to eleven points, though they have played more games than most. Andy Corser and an own goal provided Vineyard’s replies.
Division Four saw Wirral Masters Vets edge past West Kirby Vets 1–0 thanks to an Aiden Ryan strike, while Crossway Vets moved into second place with a 7–2 victory over Dee Rangers Vets. Phil Goss led the way with a hat-trick, with further goals from Phil Radcliffe, Drew Thomas, Justin Osuji and an own goal.
Division Five produced more high-scoring affairs. Great Sutton Vets beat Hoole Wanderers Vets 4–2 with goals from Gaz Handley (2), Vic Charles and Shane Bithell. Meanwhile, Tarporley Victoria Vets hit Saughall Vets for seven in a 7–3 win. Walter Yates netted a hat-trick, with Darren Lloyd, Martin Farley, Gary Scouller and Stephen Roberts also on target. Ste Kamperman’s brace and a Dave Roberts strike provided Saughall’s goals. The result moves Tarporley level on points with leaders Cheshire Vikings, though having played two more games.
