Chester Visual Arts (CVA) is delighted to announce Chester-based artists Robin Hunter and Emma Lucy as the recipients of our Digital Artbox Commissions.
Robin and Emma will be commissioned to create two original artworks for CVA’s Learning Programme. Both artworks will feature in CVA’s ‘Digital Artbox’, a series of remote learning activities for schools, young people and their families inspired by the major V&A touring exhibition ‘Chance and Control: Art in the Age of Computers’, which we brought to Chester in 2019.
CVA’s Learning Programme aims to encourage arts engagement and participation in Cheshire by working with schools, youth organisations and adult learners. It demonstrates our continued commitment to offering paid creative opportunities for artists in the region.
Robin Hunter is a creative developer from Chester. He designs and builds interactive tools and digital experiences, enabling new forms of creative expression.
Emma Lucy is an illustrator based in Chester. Lucy has produced several children’s book collaborations and series in the UK and the US, working closely with the authors to bring their stories to life through her artwork.
Ian Short, Chairman of Chester Visual Arts, commented:
“The Digital Artbox Commission is part of CVA’s commitment to supporting artists and increasing opportunities for young people to engage with arts activities in the region. We are delighted to commission Emma and Robin to create original content for our Learning Programme. While we received many strong proposals, we were impressed by the skill and accessibility of Emma and Robin’s ideas. We can’t wait to see the results.”
Both commissions will be premiered and available to access on the CVA website in the coming weeks. Watch this space!
