In 2022, Flintshire County Council published its first Climate Change Strategy which has enabled a managed and collaborative way in which the council’s carbon emissions are reduced while bringing about additional benefits such as reduced running costs, improved green spaces and engagement.
Since the council’s first carbon measurement for 2018/19, it has seen emissions under its control reduce by 27.2% for Buildings and 17.9% for Mobility and Transport according to 2022/23 figures.
The council is now conducting a planned review of its strategy to ensure it remains relevant, impactful and takes learning from previous work, and Flintshire’s residents are being called upon to tell the council what matters to them and how climate change should be addressed.
Residents can give their responses via the Climate Change Survey and are encouraged to check out the existing Strategy and/or Climate Change Webpage beforehand. The survey is live now and will be running until the 30th September 2024.
Cabinet Member for Climate Change & Economy, Cllr David Healey, said:
“The public’s voice is fundamental to ensuring the Council addresses Climate Change in a way that brings local benefits as well as addressing the global emergency. I encourage all residents to provide their thoughts on the matter and I look forward to seeing how this shapes the council’s action going forward”.
Residents who are unable to complete the survey online can visit any of the Council’s Connects Centres where support will be available.
Centres are open 9am to 4.30pm on the following days:
Buckley: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Connah’s Quay, Flint and Holywell: Monday to Friday
Mold: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
