As part of the Ellesmere Port market refurbishment, thirteen local schools have taken part in a drawing competition on the theme of ‘our visit to the market’.
The market’s fit-out contractor F Parkinson invited local schools to participate in the competition, and a display of the winning drawings across Key Stage 1 and 2 has now been unveiled in the market’s central dining area.
The winners received an art materials goodie bag sponsored by F Parkinson and the display will remain in place throughout the refurbishment works.
Councillor Nathan Pardoe, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, said:
“Congratulations to all the winners, the drawings are wonderful and bring the market to life. The refurbished market will be a fantastic asset for the town, and I hope the children will enjoy visiting for many years to come.
“Thank you to the children and schools for taking part, and to F Parkinson for facilitating this great initiative.”
Chloe Simmons, Social Value Co-ordinator, F Parkinson said:
“We have been delighted with the response from local schools, and it’s been a delight to judge the drawings and select the winners, thank you to all the schools that took part.”
The Market refurbishment will include a new building façade, photovoltaic solar panels on the roof, new toilets, seating, improved layout and public Wi-Fi, plus a new flexible events space will be created in the Flea Market area. Externally there will be a new cladding and signage, an al fresco area and landscaping along with cycle parking and seating.
