Vulnerable adults from Chester are being supported via the “Strive to Thrive” project funded by Redrow.
The project will work with adults from the Lache area to help them overcome whatever barriers they may be facing.
Six group mental health support sessions will be combined with a bespoke programme of wellbeing and fitness sessions.
Redrow donated £1,000 from its Chester community fund, linked with Kings Moat Garden Village. This has covered a mental health instructor, life coach, fitness coach and marketing.
Marcus Ting, director of Inspiring Futures who developed Strive to Thrive, said:
“The programme is delivered by a fully qualified team of professionals with a wealth of lived experience around this programme. Redrow’s donation will mean we can reach more people face to face to talk through all aspects of mental health and help develop strategies to manage it effectively.”
The project aims to help participants recognise their triggers and how to overcome them, increase their fitness levels, self-esteem and confidence plus have access to positive support networks beyond the six-week sessions.
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director at Redrow NW, said:
“These sessions are crucial to support people in Lache to improve their mental health. Furthermore, participants are supported beyond the sessions and know where to go if they ever need help in the future.
“The request for funds from Inspiring Futures resonated with us, as we are committed to the wellbeing of our workforce. Dozens of our staff have trained as Mental Health First Aiders to help support colleagues and sub-contractors and to reinforce that it’s ‘okay not to be okay’.”
