Chester FC can confirm that Scott Burton and Gary Stopforth have departed the Deva Stadium.
The midfielders, who both were signed in the summer of 2018, will be seeking pastures new for the 2020/21 campaign.
32-year-old Burton joined from Salford City to reunite with Managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley and has been the Club Captain throughout his time with the Blues.
Scott made 41 appearances for the club across two campaigns and was always led from the front on and off the field.
Stopforth made 53 Blues appearances following his arrival from Colne – another player reuniting to work with some familiar faces in the dugout.
The 33-year-old got off to a storming start and instantly became a fans favourite during a successful run at the beginning of the 18/19 campaign. However, a serious injury in December 2018 cut short his first season at the club in frustrating fashion.
However, such was the measure of the performances by the box to box midfielder in the first half of the campaign, he was named CFU Player of the Season for that season.
Everyone at Chester FC would like to thank Scott and Gary for great memories, all of their time and efforts in the blue and white and wish them the very best for the future.
