More than £87,250 has been handed out by Cheshire West and Chester Council as part of the latest funding round on Cheshire West Crowd.
The initiative enables community-led projects to attract funding to make the borough more vibrant, resilient and connected.
During this latest funding round, projects have been pitching to the Council for funding through the Community Innovation Fund (£68,500) and Climate Change Emergency Fund (£18,757), more Council contributions will follow in October.
Projects in the latest funding round backed by the Council include Ellesmere Port’s Summer Jam Festival, the Friends of Stanney Green Gym, Norley Scout Group and many more.
Ellen Mitchell, Vice chair, Grosvenor Rowing Club (Restore and Row: Grosvenor's Legacy project) said:
“Thank you very much for this generous funding contribution. This support will enable us to carry out essential roof repairs and insulate our aging clubhouse. These improvements mark a significant step towards enhancing our energy efficiency and sustainability, while also helping to future-proof proof this much-loved community and heritage building.”
Nic Wetton, Headteacher Malpas Alport Endowed Primary School (Pear up! Growing together project) said:
“We are delighted and very grateful to receive £5,865 from Cheshire West Climate Change Fund. This means our project can get off the ground and we can invest in our ecological planters that will bring community groups together to create green spaces full of vibrant plant life and spaces of wellbeing.
“Without this support our concrete corners could not be transformed to develop diverse areas that will reduce our carbon footprint.”
While some projects have already hit their crowdfunding targets, others are still calling on the support of the local community.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of the Council and Ambassador of Cheshire West Crowd, said:
“We have some excellent projects using the Cheshire West Crowd in this latest funding round. We're delighted to have Council funding available so we can support projects and help bring their ideas to life.
“As well as pitching to the Council for funding, projects will be receiving donations from local residents, charitable foundations and businesses. Pledges can start from £2 and all contributions make a difference.
“The great thing about the Cheshire West Crowd is how flexible it is and how it can help bring everyone in the local community together.
“We’re proud of the impact it’s made, so far, with189 projects being supported by 10,132 backers and over 2.7 million pounds pledged to date.
“Visit the Cheshire West Crowd website now and find out for what’s happening in your area. If there is a project close to your heart, I'd encourage you to consider supporting it.”
