A couple in Vivo Care Choices’ supported living services celebrated a happy relationship of more than 30 years with their family, friends and support staff last weekend.
Barry and Elizabeth, who are both supported by the Council’s in-house service Vivo, have always wished to hold an event to mark their relationship.
With careful discussions and planning between Vivo staff and family and friends of the couple, that dream became a reality when a ceremony was held in their own home.
Barry and Elizabeth have lived together in supported living for more than 30 years, developing their relationship over that period, and Vivo staff worked hard to make sure the occasion was carefully planned with Barry and Elizabeth’s wishes.
Liz spent the evening before at a hotel and Barry enjoyed brunch out with friends in the morning.
Barry had chosen a three-piece suit, with Liz wearing a cream-coloured long dress and tiara.
Liz arrived in a ranger vehicle that had been decorated with their names on each side and, with Barry being very fond of trucks, he was also taken out for a ride in the vehicle after the speeches.
The celebrations continued into the evening, with food, a barbeque, dancing and even a bit of karaoke.
Barry said: “The day was lovely and I loved seeing my family and friends.”
Elizabeth added: “The food was great and I had a lovely day. Thank you to all the staff from Arbour Close.”
